Event Info

Join us for a joint program by the Computer Science Department of George Mason University and the Washington DC Chapter of the ACM on April 26th at 7:00 pm. Walter Bright will lead a discussion on the D Programming Language and its programming community. The D programming language is an advanced systems programming language. It is designed to combine the power and high performance of C and C++ with the programmer productivity of today's modern languages such as Ruby and Python. While its syntax style resembles C/C++, D is a multiparadigm language and supports many styles of programming including imperative, object-oriented, and metaprogramming.

Walter Bright graduated from Caltech in 1979 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Boeing for 3 years on the development of the 757 stabilizer trim system. He switched to programming, specializing in compilers, and has been writing them ever since.
